螺螄粉
If you are the big fan of China food like Mala Hotpot, you definitely will hear about Luosifen before!
When scrolling fb or youtube, I always saw some clip of Vlog of them demonstrating the first attempt to cook and taste luosifen. According to their reaction, it seems to be a very smelly dish, and you won’t even want to try eat. However after your first sip, you will fall in love with it.
How does it taste like?
It’s mainly crystal noodles (about 3mm?), the soup is spicy and sour, and the common side dishes are bamboo shoot, black fungus, peanut and crispy bean curd.
The source of “awful” smell
The “culprit” is the bamboo shoot. If you ever tried rebung in Malay cafe, you will understand how it smell like. The smell is very distinctive, and quite subjective as well, my friend love it, but I feel like it has a hancing (urine) smell. But if you compare to your underwear, it’s not the same lah.
But for this noodles, the smell is quite mild (for me), I was thinking whether all those youtubers are over-reacting or the one I bought was really not smelly one.

Mini packets
( soup broth, vinegar, chilli oil (the soul) ,
vege pack, bamboo shoots, peanuts and bean curd)
What I like
I like the layer of chilli oil that float on surface of the soup, it was like when you welcome a new member to your house, you welcome that person with fireworks. The “piuuu- pala pala” feel..... Overall the taste is good! Will I buy it again? Maybe because it’s too expensive for me, so if one day I suddenly miss it, then will buy again. But definitely wont so frequently, RM18 leh!
How much it costs?
I bought it in a shop at gurney drive, just beside 7-eleven, if I am not mistaken, the name of the shop is 大熊貓中國市場. It’s RM18. I found cheaper one on Shopee, you can just search either 螺螄粉 or luosifen, both languages will do!( because initially I thought the Shopee and Lazada won’t recognise Chinese letter)
Ranging from RM9-RM14
Instruction to cook
Just follow the one stated behind the packaging, for mine, it’s 500ml of water to boil the glass noodles first, until it’s soft enough that you can use chopsticks to break it.
Then take the noodles out and let it “rest” first.
After that take another 500ml of water to cook the soup, mix all the ingredients, then finally add the noodles. The peanut and bean curd should be the last entering the pot.
**Disclaimer: my little sis did most of the job**
